Serdang, 20 May 2024 – The Knowledge Sharing and Transfer Program for Diploma in Business students from Sunway College Selangor at Putra Agriculture Center, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), was a resounding success. The program involved 220 Diploma students from Sunway College Selangor, accompanied by 7 lecturers.
The students had the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience the practical aspects of harvesting and agricultural production at UPM. The program was conducted in two sessions: the first session on 29 April 2024 was held online, focusing on providing detailed explanations about agricultural production activities. The second session was a practical session held on 20 May 2024, where students were directly involved in harvesting activities.
Five agricultural activity modules were provided, involving both crop and livestock sections. Students had the chance to handle leafy vegetables such as spinach, water spinach, lettuce, mustard greens, and kale; fruit vegetables like eggplant and chili; as well as mushrooms, quail, and ducks. This activity allowed students to understand post-harvest handling and processing of agricultural products into market-ready goods.
The students conducted a market study for three weeks before the practical visit, collecting orders from Sunway College starting on 29 April 2024. Each group of students purchased agricultural products from the Putra Agriculture Center, UPM, making this experience not only educational but also practical in the business world.
