SERDANG BARU, June 20, 2024- SJKC Serdang Baru 2 has taken a bold step in educating the younger generation about the importance of agriculture through a strategic partnership with Putra Agriculture Center. This early education program aims to introduce primary school students to agricultural concepts and practices, emphasizing the sector's crucial role in ensuring national food security.

Held on June 20, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, the program attracted the participation of 1,400 enthusiastic students and teachers eager to gain knowledge about the agricultural sector. The event was managed by 67 staff members from Putra Agriculture Center, who acted as exhibitors and provided educational materials, offering hands-on experiences and interactive sessions with the students.

The program received full support from the Director of Putra Agriculture Center, Associate Professor Dr. Siti Zaharah Binti Haji Sakimin, who played a key role as the program leader. Five sections were involved in making this program a success: the crop section, livestock section, integrated farm section in Puchong, promotion and marketing section, and farm engineering section.

The knowledge shared included techniques for planting coconuts, herbs, rare fruits, tissue culture, machinery use, and livestock care for animals such as cattle, goats, rabbits, quail, chickens, catfish, and tilapia. Various interactive activities were also conducted, such as a Malaysian fruit quiz, touch and smell sessions for herbal plants, and feeding sessions for the livestock.

This program not only provided practical knowledge to students but also instilled a passion for the field of agriculture. With this initiative, SJKC Serdang Baru 2 and Putra Agriculture Center hope to nurture a younger generation that is more aware of the importance of agriculture and food security. This aligns with the aspiration to build Malaysia MADANI, ensuring the nation's food security is stable and sustainable, in line with the concept that "Food Security is a Shared Responsibility."
