Serdang, 25 September 2024 – The Putra Agricultural Centre at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) once again affirmed its role as a key reference hub in agriculture by receiving a visit from Rembau Community College, Negeri Sembilan. The visit was attended by 35 students and 5 lecturers from the Agrotechnology course.
This was not just an ordinary visit but part of the Post-Harvest Technology course, where students had the opportunity to observe first-hand the post-harvest processes conducted at the Putra Agricultural Centre. This activity provided practical exposure to students on how to handle agricultural produce, in line with modern technological advancements in the agro-industry.
Among the highlights were activities like harvesting fresh agricultural produce such as eggplants, chilies, lemongrass, and leafy vegetables. The students not only learned about cultivation techniques but also how to manage the produce more sustainably and efficiently.
One of the lecturers remarked that such visits are crucial in broadening students' understanding of the true potential in the field of agrotechnology. “Through this hands-on experience, they can link theory with field practices,” he said.
With professional guidance from the Putra Agricultural Centre, this visit surely left a profound impact on the students, further strengthening UPM’s role as a leader in agricultural education in Malaysia.
