HISTORY OF ESTABLISHMENT

Taman Pertanian Universiti (TPU) has officially changed its name to Pusat Pertanian Putra (PPP)/Putra Agriculture Center (PAC) on 10th February 2021 through the  742nd JPU's  Meeting. PAC restructuring is based on the following justifications:

i. strengthen objective strategies and action plans collectively in achieving UPM Goal 4 and Strategic Plan 2021 - 2025;

ii. streamline the planning, implementation of teaching and learning for the PRT2009 (Agriculture & Life) course to be conducted under the PAC as a PTJ that provides teaching and learning support services;

iii. strengthening the income generation function as one of the main functions in addition to providing support services towards achieving the status of an entity that can support the autonomous status of the university by generating its own income (self-sustain) within 5 years;

iv. launching the regulatory management, promotion, and marketing of PAC products and other PTJ production units as well as increasing UPM's visibility in the eyes of campus residents and the general public;

v. planning activities to optimize existing expertise and resources in PAC's through strategic networks with government and private agencies from within and outside the country;

vi. intensify PAC funding activities with the cooperation of all divisions involved and coherence of actions; and

vii. strengthen the function of PPP in UPM Serdang and Bintulu Campuses, Sarawak through the consolidation of management structures for the purpose of more efficient coordination of activities and facilitating decision-making processes and joint actions involving the use of land resources for the purpose of creating agricultural-based university wealth.

PAC still maintains the function of providing support services in the field of agriculture in an effort to forge strategic cooperation with agencies and industry players as a responsible entity under the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network), UPM;

Apart from that, PAC also acts as the operational function center of agricultural support services covering all crop, livestock, aquaculture, landscape services, and management activities, official ceremony decoration, recreation, professional training/consultancy, and marketing of agricultural products.

It is hoped that this branding and restructuring will be able to increase the empowerment and visibility of agriculture in UPM
