Director's Message

Assalamualaikum WBT and Salam Sejahtera,

First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt speech on the trust given by the Vice-Chancellor, YBhg. Prof. Dr. Roslan b. Sulaiman and subsequently appointed me again to lead the Putra Agricultural Center (PPP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) from 13th  October 2021.

The restructuring of Taman Pertanian Universiti (TPU) (2001-2021) to Putra Agriculture Centre (PAC) is based on further strengthening the objective strategy and action plan collectively in achieving UPM's Goal 4 and Strategic Plan 2021-2025

However, along with the passage of time and time, the achievements of PAC in the past and the success in the future provide great challenges to its employees. This is where the desire of the university management to look back at the core of agriculture is placed on the best stage of the country by seeing the role of UPM with full dedication and commitment from the people of PAC as a whole.

We all know that Malaysia is experiencing the third wave of Pandemic Covid-19 spread. In line with the current situation, the new norms of PAC implementation and operation need to be improved in line with time. Among them are:

 1) the use of high technology in agriculture should be more applied in line with the IR4.0 era. For example, smart monitoring of watering for fertigation systems, the use of drones in fertilization as well as smart monitoring of pests and diseases.

2)refers to the main role of PAC as an entity given the responsibility to generate income to support universities with autonomous status, therefore efforts need to be redoubled along with new resolutions and norms to increase sales revenue should be done. Among the mediums that can help generate income is online sales. Through this method, the production of agricultural products based on crops, livestock, and aquaculture is based on the needs of consumers and hence surplus can be avoided. In addition to providing extensive coverage and announcements throughout Malaysia.

3) sales promotions done to increase the next sales revenue can indirectly increase the visibility of PAC, UPM in the eyes of the people of Malaysia in particular and the whole world in general. This indirectly coincides with UPM's Fourth Goal and UPM's vision of becoming an internationally reputable university.

 4) PAC is also expected to provide space to provide training to UPM graduates and community youth to become successful agricultural entrepreneurs. Site rental methods may be introduced. Through this method, PAC can contributes to creating employment opportunities as well as reducing the unemployment rate.

 5) to give greater impact to every effort that will be implemented the production of sales products on a large scale is also encouraged.

Therefore, I strongly emphasize that some basic principles and good work values continue to be practiced. Among them are working together, earnestly and do not give up easily to ensure excellent quality of work in achieving the set KPIs. A happy environment and respect for each other are also among the noble values that should be emphasized. Hopefully with this conducive and harmonious environment productivity and good work can be produced.

Finally, I hope that the PAC’s staff can provide good and undivided support for as long as I carry out the trust given. I also hope that we can all contribute to the visibility of agriculture in UPM successfully.

My service tagline… AGRICULTURE IS WEALTH.

I end my speech with the words of Wabillahitaufiq walhidayahwassalamualaikum warahmatullahiwabarakatuh.

Thank you.
