Introduction
The main scope of the Landscaping Management Unit (UPL) is to carry out services related to maintenance and landscape management to ensure that the campus environment remains clean, safe, and comfortable. The primary clients of UPPL are the entire university community within the campus.
- Planning, designing, and providing technical advice on landscape design/programs/green sustainability activities for UPM’s campus to meet the university's needs as a green campus.
- Managing landscape maintenance service contracts, area cleaning, and waste management to safeguard the university’s interests.
- Managing the Service Application System (Landscaping Services and Management Section) to ensure that applications are handled more efficiently.
- Providing landscape database data for maintenance areas to ensure better organization of landscape plant management.
- Performing self-maintenance services for large trees on the UPM Serdang campus.
- Replacing or replanting dead or diseased trees.
UPL Objectives
- Administer all maintenance contracts under UPPL’s responsibility, whether periodic or one-off contracts, efficiently and systematically without wasting resources.
- Carry out self-maintenance of shaded trees within the campus according to schedule and PTJ (Responsibility Center) requests as much as possible based on available labor, expertise, and equipment.
- Provide advice and pricing guidance to PTJ/applicants regarding shaded tree maintenance and area cleaning, and issue approvals for tree pruning or removal within the campus according to arboriculture practices.
- Plan, design, and implement landscape upgrade works to ensure that the campus environment remains aesthetically pleasing and well-maintained according to area needs and university requirements.
- Plan and execute the replacement of dead/diseased trees on the campus to maintain a green campus atmosphere.
- Plan inventory data collection work for campus trees to facilitate maintenance and species identification within the campus.
