The Livestock Section (STE) is one of the sections within the PPP. This section is located in the eastern part of the UPM campus, surrounded by the North-South Expressway, SILK Highway, SKVE Highway, and intersected by the ERL service. The livestock area is currently estimated to cover approximately 120 hectares, including administrative offices, a milking center, grazing fields for cattle, deer, and also areas for ponds, gazebos, and horse-riding tracks.
The main functions of the Livestock Section are:
To support the university's goals in teaching, research, and practical training for UPM students.
To transform the UPM area into an "Educational Meadows" concept, featuring fenced areas, grazing fields, shade trees, ponds, and educational horse-riding tracks.
To make the livestock area a viable site for livestock production using the latest technology.
To maintain a green campus environment and become an agro-tourism location with eco-friendly activities.
To provide facilities and areas for recreational and leisure activities.
The Livestock Section is managed by a Head of Section, assisted by four Unit Heads: the Large Animal Unit (Beef and Dairy), the Small Ruminant Unit (Deer), the Avian Unit, and the Livestock Feed Management Unit (Quail, Chicken, Duck, and Pasture). The staffing strength of the Livestock Section is 29 personnel, including four agricultural officers, one veterinary officer, and six assistant officers.
