The Agrotechnology Section is one of the five sections under the Plant Division, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The Agrotechnology Area is located next to the Crops Section, Golf Course and UPM Teaching Hospital (HPUPM).
The functions and roles of the Agrotechnology Section are;
- Provide facilities and areas for Practice and Field Practice activities as well as Practical Training for students.
- Carrying out soilless cultivation activities such as Fertigation, Propagation by tissue culture, mushroom seeding and gray oyster mushroom cultivation.
- Helping UPM generate income from the sale of agricultural products such as cultured banana seedlings, vegetables, melons and gray oyster mushrooms
Under this Section there are three main Units namely
- Tissue Culture
- Unit Fertigation
- Unit Mushroom
Unit There are 9 staff members who help run daily operations under the Agrotechnology Section.
- Cultivating leaf vegetable crops, fruit vegetables and rock melons grown by fertigation for showcase
- Carry out area and plant maintenance work
- Carrying out planting activities and starting new projects as planned by the unit
- Carry out the work of harvesting when the plants bear fruit.
- Carrying out the work of collecting plant material for tissue culture
- Preparing mushroom seeds
- Providing media and other activities involved in gray oyster production.
- Assist in teaching, research and industrial training activities.
